CWA is running up to its 100th year, and has a proud history added to recently with its work across the State supporting farmers in drought.
Our branch works in partnerships with other local community groups on a wide range of topics, and forms part of support for a Family Room at Ronald McDonald Houses, and via Hospital packs for mothers in crisis across the State.
We sew flannelette liners and knit and sew pouches for injured wildlife, have made both bat wraps and bat feeding wraps for the Shoalhaven Bat Sanctuary and have even knitted jumpers for the Penguins down at Phillip Island.
Over 200 items, including pyjamas, woollen jumpers and cardigans, matinee jackets and beanies, have been delivered to Westmead
Children’s Hospital. Beanies for cancer patients have been taken to the Mater Hospital in Newcastle, and we continue to deliver rugs, teddies, toys and toiletries to Ronald McDonald Houses. We have other projects underway also, including support for our servicemen and women in the Philippines. Its not all work, we have a movie club, and many social outings.
